Pilates Nerd Down Under Ambassador
Sara Colquhoun is an internationally acclaimed Pilates expert. Passionate about helping people lead a wholesome, healthy lifestyle, Sara says Pilates is about so much more than what happens on the mat.
Sara has trained in Pilates since the age of 14, and began teaching it only three years later. She has also completed a diploma in dance and performing arts before going on to pursue a career in Pilates under the guidance of Pilates International. Today, Sara instructs a number of high-profile clients, including elite AFL players and Australian ballet dancers.
One of Sara’s biggest career highlights to date has been winning the international Pilates Anytime competition to become their next instructor. Sara is one of the youngest instructors to join such an elite group of trainers on the site. Sara also owns and runs her own studio Ki Movement Pilates on Clarendon St, South Melbourne. Lanette is a director of Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesITC) and Pilates Canberra Studios. With over 20 years of experience in the Pilates Method opening her first studio in Canberra in 1996, she is a true Aussie Pilates Nerd! Her background in Pilates instruction includes a diverse range of Pilates training, culminating in the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method. Lan lists her faves over the years as including Julian Littleford, Kathy Grant's work with Blossom Crawford, Deborah Lessen - it's really just a line up of fabulous Pilates Nerds! Lanette also holds Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is in the process of completing a Bachelor of Exercise Science at the University of Canberra through her Advanced Dip Pilates articulation. Throughout her career Lanette has held positions on Australian national boards in the areas of Health, Fitness and Pilates, including President of the Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) for a term until 2013. Lanette’s keen interest has always been in the foundation and continuing education of professionals working in the areas of Allied Health through movement, believing this to be key in the continued expansion and government recognition of the Pilates industry. Over the years Lan has trained many elite Aussie sporting teams, politicians (she is in Canberra after all), and is keenly involved with training wheelchair bound clients.
